Got the new MPB 14" 2023, and the keyboard / keys seem to be a fingerprint magnet, and seem to get oily really easily when using.

I have not had this issue with any of the previous MPBs. Anyone experience this? are there keyboard or keycap covers as options?

100% agree. I was thinking the sane thing earlier today. Thank goodness it's just not me as I thought I had overly greasy fingers 🤣

I don't think it's that it's a fingerprint magnet or showing grease - I think it's the matte material actually wearing off the keycaps, showing the shiny plastic underneath. The exact same thing happened to my black Magic Keyboard for my iPad Pro 11". You can't clean it off.

For those who posted so far, does it clean off for you?

This seems to happen very quickly on all current Apple keyboards.

I have 16inch and do not see any difference from prior 2018 MBP or even older ones. Basically, do not see any problems with this at all. It may depend on your hands, I have to put cream on mine at least twice a day or they feel dry and skin can crack.
You can buy keyboard covers for Mx MBP on Amazon for ~$8 in the US. I have no experience with them except I bought years ago one for my daughter to protect her MBA agains accident prone teenager.

Nope. It is a finger print magnet. I've only had my M2 for about 3 weeks and it was covered in finger prints almost immediately - and I wouldn't say I have greasy fingers at all 🤣

What would you guys advise we use to clean the keyboard? And the screen?

For the screen I've always been a proponent of a dab of water on a microfiber cloth. Never had anything on the screen where this method failed. I'm a little weary of 'cleaners' with chemicals that might take off the coating on the screen. For me it's not a risk worth taking when water always works.

For the keyboard I use the same method, although I'd think using some chemical cleaner or alcohol would be fine here.

I'm with you on not using chemicals on the screen. I don't even use water. I use a fibre cloth and if that doesn't do the job, I huff n puff on the screen then wipe it off.

The laptop is only 1 week old, and only used it twice :) so I don't think that is my issue.

I've bought this thing, basically vinyl stickers that go over the keys - I'll let you know how it goes...

It would be pretty easy to see if it was. If it wipes off, then yes it's just a fingerprint magnet as you say.

But enjoy the matte finish on those keys 'cause it's going to be wearing off in a month or two 😅

I have the 16 as well and the keys look and feel fine. I do wipe off the top case with a microfiber cloth at least once a week and maybe that helps.

Guys I don't know if it's just me but I unboxed my Macbook pro 1 day ago and my jeyboard is completely fingerproof, which is AWESOME. Is it just me or is it just me or is it happening for everyone?
