I wanna encode TV shows for playback on my iPod or TV. I want the highest resolution and least amount of compression artifacts as possible. Which is the better codec to use? Normal MPEG-4 with 2.5Mbps Max with 2-pass or H.264 with 768Kbps with 2-pass? Also, what are the pros and cons of each codec?

How does Apple encode their iTunes Music Store videos? The quality is EXCELLENT yet it still plays perfectly on the iPod. I have yet to figure out a way to encode video to be as crisp and smooth as Apple iTunes Music Store videos.

This has been covered numerous times here. Do a bit of searching.
