I have received some mpg's from my friend to video edit. For some reason I can see the picture for one of the videos and when I click on it nothing happens. Quicktime doesn't open nor does VLC. Any ideas how to get this mpg to open up so I can view it?

Try Command-I (get info) and see what the extension on the file is. If it's anything different than .mpg change it manually and then accept changes.
