MR won't display thumbnails unless logged in

MR won't display thumbnails attached to a post unless I am logged in. The post will show the link to the thumbnail. If I click the link MR makes me sign in. If I sign in first then everything displays properly. This just started 2 days ago. I checked the "display thumbnail" option in my user control panel. I do not want to have to log in every time I look at something. What am I missing?

Ya the iPhone arriving Early thread was linked from a lot of sites. Normally not a huge problem but had 5 images embedded in it. Out attachment server crapped out which lagged page loads. So for now only registered users can view attachments
