Using a USB drive I moved MS docs from my PC (Windows XP) to Office mac 2008 on my MacBook. I can see a list of these documents under Open Recent, but I cannot open them. Do I need to convert them in some way? If so, what is the correct converter program to download? Also, at the same time and in the same way, I moved photos to iPHOTO on the MacBook; these are functioning perfectly.

Thank you.

You shouldn't see them under Open Recent unless they've already been opened via a Mac app. Just open them up as per normal; double-click the file or open the Office app and then open the specific doc. Office 2008 for Mac handles all the new MS Office formats natively, no intermediate conversion required.

Now, there are MS Office (not MS Works) docs, right?

I think they're under your recent items because you probably opened them from the USB drive. When you try to open again, it can't find the drive.
