Using MS Edge for a while (along with Safari, Firefox and Brave), do really like it.

Strange to me is that Edge wants to get updated twice or three times a week. No other browser acts like this, nor MS Office (updates once every month or so).

I wonder what might be the reason for these many updates. Has anyone an idea?

Some are security updates, some are bug fix updates. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-relnote-stable-channel
Microsoft doesn't explain why they work this way.

I never thought that regular updates of any software would be a cause for concern...

MS is trying to eat Google's browser lunch and it looks like they are making headway.

Any idea why I'm getting so many?
There aren't more updates than what exist in that list, so no. Edit: are you enrolled in one of the "Insider" programs for Office? Those are effectively beta updates and could be more frequent.

These are the same idiots who think $RANDOM_SOFTWARE is dead if it doesn't have continuous version churn. How they keep both of these ideas in their heads at the same time, I have no idea.

What Office suite do you have? From MS or App Store? Mine have twice weekly updates, I would say.
Office is downloaded directly from MS. Edge also, as fas as I remember (but definitively no special version). Office gets the usual updates for me as described above, nothing remarkable.

Seeing this behavior too, and I'm on the current channel. Updates 4-5 times a week for the past few weeks. I hate chrome and won't use it, but this has gotten absurd. About ready to chuck edge over the edge and go to firefox.

Hi, Chrome here, have we met?

Just kidding. Google Chrome has very frequent updates as well. Safari... only with system updates apparently. Not sure about Firefox,

Edge is frequently updated on the Windows 10 side at work. Even after, they clamp down on things "coming down automatically" with GPs and (I assume) Azure controls.

so far the macbook air and dell xps needed only 4 updates of Edge browser this calendar year.
every update provided better performance and improved ad blocking.
