MS Exchange email, but no active sync or IMAP

So my companies IT department doesn't want to change anything with the server. So we don't have active sync and no access to email via IMAP. So, my question is there any way to get my email from the ms exchange server on my iphone (yes I have 2.0) for free? I realize i can use the browser to go to my companies outlook web access, but that isnt the solution I am looking for.

Blackberries can do it...they log into my OWA and download the emails...its not instantaneous but that fine. I am looking to be able to receive and send work email on my iphone.
