So I decided to go IMAP with my mail since POP just became too unwieldy. I had the same mails coming in to OS X Mail, Outlook (in Boot Camp) and my iPhone... sent emails scattered all over the place etc.
It's been working out great, I now have synchronized mail no matter from where I access it.
There's just one pesky little problem: When I send mail from Outlook, the receiver gets an email from "John Smith" (let's say that's my name
), but when I send it from Mail in OS X, the receiver gets a mail from "john" (small caps and no last name). Ridiculous problem maybe, but it kinda makes my business emails look like I'm a retard who can't set up a basic mail client (which in this case is actually sort of true).
I absolutely cannot find anywhere to change the sender name when I'm using IMAP. When I send POP mail from the Mac, the correct (full) sender name is used. It's only with the combo of OS X mail + IMAP that this arbitrary sender name string gets pulled out of some hat.
Any ideas?
