Apparently Microsoft's Genuine Advantage Tool is connecting to Microsoft's servers on a daily basis. This begs the question... WHY? Read here for MS's response:
Looks to me like the article answers that question.
As far as I'm concerned, the only real problem here is that they weren't more up-front about how exactly this program behaves in the first place. I chose to install it, and I've not had any problems with it or because of it.
