MS Office 2008 / Preview Issue

Sorry for the lack of a descriptive title... anyways, I run MS Office 2008 on my white Macbook and was wondering if there's a reason MS Word/PP/Excel opens up like the last 4 documents/files/projects I was working on instead of the one I just clicked on. It may not seem annoying but Preview also does this where I'll click one picture and 4 or 5 things will automatically open.

Anybody else encounter this?

I was going to jump the gun and say it didn't work, then I closed my computer for a few seconds and signed back in and voila.
