Needing MS Word and MS Powerpoint (not all the Office pack) to prepare classes and conferences in my iMac and a MacBook with High Sierra, anyone has experience with it? Works well? Suggestions to buy?

[doublepost=1512393279][/doublepost]Thanks guys.
Anyone knows if Word and PPT work and can be bought separately from the heavy MS Office package?

All work great. Check with your institution and see if they make it available to you. Our system offers the entire suite of Office products to all students, faculty, and staff.

If you buy the Office 365 as individual app, you will get no upgrade pricing for the new version that is already in beta. You can buy a one install or a 5 install on Amazon for a lower price than directly via MS at $100/year.

Start by downloading the trial. You have 30 days to get a card to activate. https://products.office.com/en-us/try

Do a search. Much has been written about this. The OP did not mention version?

But Office 2011, V 14.7.7 is working fine in HS. However, MS has announced that as of the last update, there will be no more support.

Office 2016, V 15.40 is also working fine in HS, and has full MS support.

And I paid $56.99 for Office 2016 Home and Office Edition, No subscription!

^^^^I paid $56.99 for the Home and Business edition. Thought that was a GREAT deal. It's legitimate, the license goes to Microsoft and you can download directly from Microsoft. However I chose to download the program first and apply the license once installed. I bought my license here:

I use 2011 Office for Mac with HS and I actually see this as good news because the worst thing about MS Office has been that it's constantly downloading and installing updates. :(

There will always be monthly updates for Office. That's just their release model and I think it's a pretty decent one. Each update includes security fixes and most of the time new features and functionality as well. If you set your MS AutoUpdate client to 'automatically download & install' it will do it almost silently for you. You'll only get a notification once per month that updates are ready for you to install.

Keep a lookout for version 4.0 of the update client early next year as well, this will introduce binary based updates, meaning your monthly Office updates will go from 600MB to just 60MB in size.

I bought office 2016 key from ebay which allows 3 installs.

cost me £30.

seen listings as low as £9 but seems dodgy to me that low.
£30 told me in listing was bulk/enterprise edition.

So running full office 2016 suite.

We used to get 2010 (PC) refurb keys at work but boss let Microsoft partner expire so no longer have these.
Used to cost us £3 per key as a partner.

That deal sounds really attractive, but when I tried to go there I get a message "Sorry this shop is currently unavailable"

So maybe that deal is no longer available..
