I have recently acquired a Mac with Office 2004 installed under a corporate licence. Obviously I could just use it but I would rather do the right thing and have a legitimate licence.

I have access to a 2004 upgrade version. can I install the "upgrade" over the installed version and then register my details et al and use the upgrade key?

If you use an upgrade, that's an upgrade to the corporate license, not your individual license. I'm not sure that would work. If you want to switch to an individual license, I think you'd have to install the full version, rather than an upgrade.

Check with your company to see if you have a EPP (Employee Purchase Program). I bought a full Office suite for a really low price through Microsoft and they gave me a download link to get it.
