What sophisticated app out there for iPad 2 is available for creating and editing MS Word documents, both in tihe .doc and .docx format?

I notice that Docs2Go can edit .doc documents but it doesn't seem like it takes .docx documents. I wonder why after so many years, .docx format is still not that popular.

Remember, there is still no true substitute/compatibility with MS word docs. Fonts often are not supported, formatting gets changed, track changes doesn't work, and you can't (at least from what I recently have seen) add footnotes/references, although at least they still now exist on import.

If it's a letter, notes, short memo, it's pretty easy to do on Pages. If it's like a brief, or a presentation, or a report of some sort that has specific formatting you have to be careful.
