MS Word for Mac 08 - headers & Footers

I've recently upgraded my MacBook and have also downloaded a trial of office for Mac 08. It seems to be going reasonably well but am having problems with headers and footers. I have created a template with a different first page to the second page which all works really well. If I enter a hard page break, the third page is the same as the second, all good, however, if I type and it automatically runs over to the next page, it brings up the header and footer the same as page 1...any ideas? I've a feeling its a little box that needs to be ticked somewhere, just can't find it.
