MS Word, Formatting toolbar vanished when I click gif or jpg in doc

I am using a .gif and .jpg from the internet and pasted them into Ms Word.

When ever I click on either of them, the Formatting toolbar disappears and the actual app window moves upward too.

Is there anyway around this?
