I need to add a horizontal line in an MS word document (kinda like an <hr /> tag in HTML) and be able to control the thickness of it. I was able to insert a bunch of _'s and MS Word's autocorrect was useful for once and made it a horizontal line, but it was only 1 pixel high and I need about 3 or 4px high and couldn't change it. Thanks

Without creating a table, open the borders and shading palette, and click on the type button, and select the one that has just the top line in it. This will create a rule that goes all the way across the column. You can then click on the style and weight buttons to adjust the characteristics of the rule.
