MS Word is bugging out!!1

OK here i sthe situation. I have a 500 user environment. We run 10.3 server and 10.3 clients all up to date. We are using a LDAP home directory environment. All of a sudden MS word is quiting on users. That is to say some documents launch word and then automatically quit. UGH! What's worse is the same problematic document will open when launched locally. The same document will open from the user account when holding down the shift key. I have scanned for viruses, tried the font manipulation fix, deleted caches tried font doctor all to no avail. Please help as to this situation seems to be propogating into previously unaffected files. HELP!!!
