I had a problem like this using a third-party Bluetooth keyboard, which keyboard are you using? I'm sure the Apple Bluetooth keyboard works better, I'm currently using a wired third-party keyboard and don't have these problems anymore

not sure why, but when the msi G274QPF monitor goes to sleep, the only way to bring the display back on is to turn it off & on again. am i missing a setting on the mac mini m4 or the monitor? normally on my imac it comes back on with a simple press of any key on the keyboard. https://www.costco.com/MSI-27"-WQHD-IPS-Nvidia-G-Sync-Gaming-Monitor.product.1760884.html
I had the exact same issue. I tried turning on the HDMI CEC option and it worked. It's under the general settings item. For me, that's the last item on the menu. I looked it up. Apparently HDMI CEC allows other devices to control the monitor and it needs to be on for the computer (for me it's a M4 mac mini).
