Hi there not sure if this is the right forum but here goes:

I have a unibody Macbook and when i try to sign into MSN it does not work. However i know it is not my account because i can sign in on the PC we have. Also i have been at uni and MSN worked fine when i was there. It comes up with the error about the service not being available, or i am not connected to the internet.

Also iTunes does not let me access the store. It comes up with the error that the network connection has timed out etc etc. Again, iTunes works fine on my PC and it used to work fine at uni.

I first thought it may have been my router but if that was the problem, i wouldn't be able to access the programs through my PC would I? If anyone has any ideas on what could be the problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Hi yes i am using MSN Mac, and do like Adium but would still like to solve the problem on MSN and iTunes.

Try turning your software firewall off in System Preferences>Security>Firewall>allow all incoming traffic and see if that allows things to work.

If it does you can go through the firewall settings and see what's screwing things up. You don't wanna leave the fire wall off.

Hi my firewall was already turned off. I tried turning it on and off then trying the apps again but no luck. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hi i also just found out Safari doesn't work either - none of the sites load that i try. Anyone with any ideas? Cheers.

Hi this is what i got from terminal:

Server: 192.168.1.254
Address: 192.168.1.254#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: apple.com
Address: 17.149.160.49
Name: apple.com
Address: 17.251.200.70
Name: apple.com
Address: 17.112.152.57

Also i don't understand how safari could break the download. Both of the apps work fine, but the problem seems to be with my internet as they worked normally at uni.

Thanks for the help guys.

if you mean under network/airport/proxies, then yes. The 'SOCKS Proxy' is ticked...

Thanks
