I have used MSN as a homepage for more years than I wish to conjure up. When I got a Mac, I still use it because I am familiar with the layout and happy with the content. But since downloading Catalina (coincidence?), MSN.com will not advance beyond the initial "picture" when I click on it (progress bar goes up 15% and stops), and I am forever getting the beachball when I scroll around the page quickly. I am looking for a good alternative and would like some mainstream suggestions. Please!

Just got off the phone with AppleCare. First I showed (screen shared) the tech that items I selected from the MSN.com page weren't loading. She then had me go into safe mode, and there the items did load! Then she had me restart to get out of safe mode, and the items continued to load! I asked what going into safe mode did to cause it to work again, and was told that that "refreshes" the computer. Is there a better definition to what going into safe mode does other than "refreshes" it? Thanks!
