msn in aduim and msn messenger not working

Hi, having a problem with my msn. I usually use aduim but this morning that wouldn't connect to msn, so I try the msn messenger, that doesn't either and get the 'service not available or maybe your not connected to the internet', i was and am. So I thought it was the service. However my msn account works on my xbox and it works if I use the web msn messenger on the same machine aduim and msn messenger wont work! Really don't know what to do, any suggestions?

It can do this some times, just wont have to logon for the time being

Go to System Prefs->Network->Advanced->DNS, and add the servers:
208.67.222.222, 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1

Thanks for the replies. Still seems to not be working. I thought it might be little snitch but even when disabled it doesn't work. The port it uses is and always has been open on my routers firewall.
