msn messenger disconnecting

I can't get MSN Messenger 4.0.1 to stay logged in and it is
driving me MAD. *It appears that i am on-line at my end but when I go
to MSN I am logged out. *It seems to be happening after a
couple of minutes. * Can anyone help or advise?


I've noticed I can just be sitting and waiting on a friend while i do
something else and Messenger logs me off... sometimes without even
changing the display... so i even think i'm still online.

I already tried deleting preferences, fixing permission, using older version, turning on and off firewall setings for msn (ports 6891-6900-1863)

I've had similar problems with all IM clients bar one, AdiumX, which I'm now using for several reasons... This is one of them.

i have read somewhere that there are widespread problems with the logging out and its microsofts problem. my friend who is on windows using msn is having far more problems than me.

i'm on adium x and its working pretty well at the moment but the proper msn for mac is much worse (in general!)

are u behind a firewall or proxy

did you ahve problems with the previous version

if not then maybe try using the older version

3.0
3.5.1
4.0.0

and last night I updated OSX 10.3.7, still the same problem
