Hi, hope someone can help!

I have to use MSN Messenger for some work I'm doing right now, however, I work in two locations. In the office, I MSN will not sign in, and I am certain that this is due to our office firewall. MSN signs in fine on the PC's in the office, but my Mac won't 🙁 .

Does anyone know the port number used by MSN Messenger for Mac? I am positive that it is different to that used On Windows systems, but support for Macs on the Microsoft Website is abysmal (no supprises there...)

TIA,

C

Look in network preferences, in the Firewall, when you first run MSN messenger it puts its port range there.

I'm on a PC at the moment, but when I get home if you can't find it I'll post them.

Are the PC's configured to use MSN and other services such as web browsing through a proxy? If that's the case, enter the same proxy information into MSN Msgr via Preferences then Connection.

Thanks for your replies,

I checked the ports, 6891 - 6900, they are open for outbound (according to our network admin, but I have little faith)

TomF - We don't use a proxy server.

I am stumped.

You need TCP ports:

80
443
1863

I confirmed this through a dump of the traffic and our firewall.
