I have been trying to set up the use of my webcam with my MSN messenger. However, there is no option for allowing this in any of the menu functions. My husband tried to invite me and it popped up that my version of MSN did not support webcam and I needed an upgrade, but the link it sent me to was to a Windows support page. Does anyone know where I can get the webcam upgrade?

Thanks!

MSN for mac doesn't have support for webcam, you can try alternatives like aMSN or Mercury Messenger that do support webcams.

Thanks, I have downloaded aMSN but I can't get it to log in, the little butterfly just flaps for hours while it says 'loading.' I looked for a forum specifically for it, but the last one I found hadn't had a post since 2006 so I thought that it was an old program that wasn't being maintained (or whatever you have to do to them). I didn't want to sign up for skype just yet because we are on the brink of a big move and don't actually have any friends on skype (whereas we have tons of friends on MSN).

Thanks again for your help.

Hi Jenna,

I was using webcam to talk to friends all summer while i was away, so I will give you my opinion on which is best. For me, I have used skype for doing all of my video chatting. I find it works quite well, but like you I don't have like anyone my skype list only the people i would talk to with a webcam.

So mostly I just talk to people with msgs on Adium (you are probably using messenger for mac, which is fine) and then if they want to webcam chat you just both go on skype and talk away. I find it works better then the microsoft webcam chat any day.

As an alternative, someone has also mentioned mercury messenger. This also works decent. Im not sure but I don't think you get audio with the webcam chat option, so I think thats why I went to skype.

Anyway check it out and let us know what you think
