I hope I'm not the only one having this issue.
2011 21.5" iMac (2.5Ghz, 8GB RAM, 500GB)

I have 3 - external Firewire Drives + 2 External USB Drives.
Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, every time the screen goes to sleep, all of the external drives go to sleep. I have set the Power Setting to DO NOT SLEEP DRIVES, but it didn't change anything.

It has really slowed the performance of my system because it is loading things like iTunes libraries and iBank data from the external drives.

Any ideas :confused::confused::confused:

Oooh, I have the same problem. Everytime it goes to sleep, I have to wait a few seconds before anything comes back up. If I have a movie playing in VLC, the movie will pause a few seconds before starting up again!

Update

I tested some more this morning.
After resetting PRAM (had some hanging issues with a couple programs).

It seems that it is only the USB drives that are going to sleep. The Firewire drives stay spun up.
