MTR and iChat questions!

I was trying to rip a DVD on Mac The Ripper and part ways through, it had this weird thing about Vob, and how I should either Pad or Delete the Vob. Could someone explain this to me and what I should do?

Also, on my friends MB, his iChat has this issue where his friends don't show up as online, even though they for sure are. This wasn't the original case as his iChat had originally always worked, but now it sort of trips out when he tries to use his AIM.
