Hi,
I am new to video editing, and right now I am beyond frustrated trying to get my video clips from a Sony HDR-SR10 camera to work on my brand new iMac (Snow Leopard 10.6.4). I called an apple rep who told me to use MPEG Streamclip to convert .mts files to .mp4, but when I try to drag an drop my .mts files onto MPEG Streamclip I receive an error that says "File open error: unrecognized file type."

I am pulling my hair out in frustration. Can anyone help?!

I had the same problem with my Pansonic HD recorder. Very frustrating. Anyhow, try HandBrake. It's free and it converted my video files.
