I have an 11-ich 2013 MacBook Air (i7, 8GB RAM, 512 GB SSD) and there is this strange bug I have been noticing for about a year now (so its not new in Yosemite, it happened with Mavericks too). Every now and then the sound from the integrated speakers becomes sort of muffled, more silent than usual, treble goes away, the sound is just not good overall. To this day I dont have a clue what triggers it. However, I have discovered that an SMC reset solves the issue until it appears again in a few days.
I have made a video in which the difference should be audible. I used just my iPad, which records only in mono and the sound quality is not ideal but I think it got the job done and using headphones it should be clear how much better the music sounds after I reset SMC. In the video, the difference doesnt perhaps sound as pronounced, but believe me, there is a world of difference when actually listening to it. Heres a link to the video:

So there is a fix, but it doesnt solve the underlying problem, whatever it might be and its very frustrating, to be honest. I dont know how many other users it happens to. So I thought Id just put it out here and I wonder if this happens to anybody else and if anybody found a permanent fix or something.
