So I'm in the market for another external HD.
Here is the set up so far:
- Powerbook with 120gb internal
- External 160gb IDE drive with USB2, FW400, and broken FW 800.

To prepare for Tiger, and to compensate for my inability to destroy data, I need a new drive.

Here is the thing, I don't want to tie up all my FW ports, and I don't want to get rid of a nice 160gb drive. What I'm thinking is this:
Buy a duel bay external enclosure, and put a new 500gb drive in it with my 160gb drive. Sell old external case to my brother.

Can I mix drive sizes like that in an external case? Can the drives be different manufactures?

I'd love to have it all pipe through my FW800 port and leave the 400port free for digital devices that float in and out of my life.

Does a case like this one from OWC look like it's any good?
NOTE: I am not going for a RAID setup. AFAIK hardware for a RAID is expensive. However if there are inexpensive RAIDS to be had, I would go for it. I'm all about technology.

And can someone give me an opinion on buying IDE vs SATA at this point in time?

Thanks everyone!
~Tyler
