I have one of these mice

I was using a samsung mouse but it died a few minutes ago so plugged this in.

My question is can I get el capitan to use the forward and back buttons on the side?
Im not fussed about the dpi switch and the orange double left on top.

No options in mouse settings for the side buttons.
Not end of world but be nice to be able use them.

You need the shareware SteerMouse.

I have been very happy using Overdrive for many years. I did try SteerMouse for awhile, but settled with Overdrive because of the configurability and features.

BTW, I have not found a way to configure extra mouse buttons in Apples default mouse preference in any OS.

I just thought that El Cap or sierra might have the option added for extra buttons as not everyone uses the mac mouse.
