I use a CalDigit to connect my 2020 Macbook Pro to an external 4k monitor. By default, I've set my external display to be the primary display by moving the menu bar over to that display in the Mac OS settings. It works fine except when I unplug my laptop for the day and then go back the following day and plug it in, MacOS is still showing my external display as primary but it refuses to open or display any of my open applications.

I'm forced to then move the primary display setting back to my laptop, then back to the external display again, and only then will application windows open on the external display. This only started happening after upgrading to Big Sur. Anyone else have this issue or found a more permanent solution than having to swap the primary display each day?
