I've got a secondary monitor on my Macbook that has a maximum display resolution of 1280x1024. I've got it running, at my own choice, at 1280x768, however. Unfortunately the desktop stretches to take up the whole screen, rather than running at the correct aspect ratio. Is there any way in Mac OS X to make sure it runs at the correct aspect ratio, so that there are two black bars above and below the desktop - like when you watch a widescreen movie on a fullscreen television?

I can get it working in Windows, but I see no similar display option in Mac OS X.
