hi im sorry if this has been posted before but ive searched a few threads and there is a few problems from others.

ive had my iphone 3gs for 11 months. recently ive had no audio but it does work through the earphones and i can turn the silent button on and off. i tried the 'earphone tricking' thing where u take them in and out but it didnt work. if i am listening to a song and disconnect the earphones the same song pauses and shoots to full volume (obviously with no sound). i dont have an alarm tone or ringtone either - my settings are fine. i havent wet it, dropped it or got sand in it.

i dont want to take it to get fixed if i can do it myself

I'd take it in, since you're near the end of your warranty period...might as well use it. Unless the Apple store is really far away, in which case, you can dismantle it to see if anything's been dislodged. This, of course, voids what warranty you have left.
