Hi Guys,

Just looking at a colleagues iPad 2 in work and in iOS5 he has Multi-touch gestures. On my 1st gen iPad when i check under settings, general i dont have the option their.

Any ideas?

This worked for me!

http://modmyi.com/forums/ipad-jailb...ures-display-mirroring-without-jailbreak.html

Did it last night, and very happy to have the gestures back. It is hard to do without them once you are used to them.

It is claimed that this method does not actually result in jailbreak!
My iPad seems all normal after doing it (gestures now present of course), but I would be interested to hear others thoughts on this. . . . I know absolutely nothing about jail breaking.

Sorry OP, my post didn't really answer your question.

No, as standard, iPad gestures are not on the iPad 1 under iOS 5.

I'm going to have to do this as soon as I get home this evening. Thanks OP!

Edit: It worked!

This is my first attempt at JBing of any kind - and it works awesome! For those, like me, that don't like the idea of JBing, this is very limited. Just gestures and mirroring. Supposedly, you can update to subsequent versions of IOS without having to do anything else.

Thanks a lot. I have missed my "Multitasking Gestures" since first IOS 5 dev. preview.

This does NOT jail brake your device!

Applied it and enjoying the gestures AND Mirroring.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And thanks for the suggestion about using the watch. The process goes a lot faster than using the countdown on the screen. I can't believe I've got gestures back again. I really missed them. Like someone said, this is an early Christmas!!!!!

Also the performance seems to be smooth as BUTTER as the iPad 1 has a huge processor for all the new fluff. :D

Ok, so I followed all of the steps and I have the gestures working great! I can't believe they took them out of the final build! I do seem to be having trouble with the mirroring though. On my iPhone 4S there is an option to choose the apple tv and then below it it has a switch to turn on mirroring. On my iPad though it just shows the apple tv as an option. Any ideas how to turn on mirroring or if I am doing something wrong?
Thanks!

Never had gestures before, myself, they are darn sweet. I see no aesthetic or performance reason for Apple wanting them disabled. If 5.next disables the hack, I will be sticking with 5.0 until the next hack.

Very disappointed in Apple they took this flawlessly working features out.

And how can ppl even say the original iPad has a slow processor? It is faster on one to one comparison since the iPads 2 is clocked at 800 MHz. It's perfectly fine for ios 5 and the iPad.

I did this today as well and it worked great. You can also airplay to your atv with this. This link and this video may help.

I did this with my iPad1. Had some trouble getting into DFU mode following the timers on-screen, they ran too slow - when I held both for exactly 10 seconds then released lock (rather than waiting for the on screen prompt to tell me 10 seconds had passed, when it was actually like 12-13 seconds), it worked great.

Gestures work fine, however I can't get airplay mirroring to work. I do have Apple TV 2 with latest OS, and I can do regular Airplay - but not mirroring. Anyone else tried this & getting mirroring to work successfully?

Tried this today and it works like a charm on my iPad 1. Don't know why apple would not include this as part of ios 5. Only issue I found is that airport utility keeps crashing. Not a big deal. Everything else works perfectly.

Update: deleted airport utility and redownloaded it from the app store. Works fine now.
