I have an '08 MBP with the trackpad that supports the multi touch features.

My question is, are those capabilities in the trackpad itself, or are they in the motherboard/cpu area?

I'm thinking about putting the top case from a 2.2 '07 on my 2.5 '08. I can get a whole 2.2 dirt cheap that has a great body where mine is a little beat up.

Anyone know if I'd keep my multi touch abilities on the new trackpad?

Thanks

Thank you. Looks like I won't be swapping those parts.

Is the trackpad itself swappable? Meaning, could I take just the top case from the new one and keep my trackpad?

In theory, it should work, whether it does is something else entirely. Try it out, it's not too long or hard to do.
