I've been having trouble with my 13" Mid 2010 MacBook Pro lately. Sometimes the cursor will select text when I click (tap-to-click) rather than moving the cursor, and occasionally I won't be able to enter text, despite the text cursor being in the right place, until I've clicked the trackpad. Last night the computer kept waking itself up in clamshell mode after I closed the lid, so I ended up having to turn it off completely.

All of this to me points to a faulty trackpad registering a click when there is none present. I'm going to be taking it to the Apple Store tomorrow, but I'm wondering if there are any tests I should run beforehand to verify my theory/symptoms. Any ideas?

I'd just take it in and tell them whats up, there shouldnt be a problem with them replacing the trackpad/top case.

Apple replaced the trackpad, no questions asked, and had it ready for me the next morning. Impressive. Hopefully that's the last I'll see of the problem.
