Hi,
I've a Brother DCP-7030 printer with a scanner and I would like to share on my home wireless network. I've three laptops, MBP with SL 10.6.4, Samsung running Windows 7 and old Acer with Windows XP. I would like to use Acer as print server. I have few questions concerning that process. First, I was wondering if the scanner can be accessible from Mac and Windows without any problems? Is there a specific way of sharing a scanner on a home network having computer running Mac and Windows? Will I have to use generic laser printer drivers or can use specific DCP-7030 drivers on my Mac? Once when I shared printer through Windows PC I had to use generic laser printer drivers. That's not a good solution as diminishes the functionality of printer. I don't mind putting some additional software on the Acer laptop if that can improve the sharing capabilities. The only job of that laptop will be running a print server.
