I'm a brand new switcher, so be kind. Unibody MBP on OS X 10.5.5.

I'm using Mail.app as my email client. I've created two accounts, one for my personal account, one for my work account (I have a separate domain for work, but I have it hosted elsewhere). I have the two accounts showing up underneath the Inbox icon in Mail, but I only have a single Sent folder. From what I've been able to find on the Net, I should have two accounts underneath the Sent folder, just like I do on the Inbox (same for Junk).

Am I misunderstanding how this works?

Thanks!

Hmm, on mine, each account has its own Sent folder.

If there's a triangle icon next to the Sent folder, try clicking on that and seeing if it expands it to show each individual one.

Sorry I wasnt't clear -- that's what I meant by "a single Sent folder". There's no triangle by it.

All my POP accounts drop to one sent folder. I never saw a problem in it...

First, I can't tell by looking at a message which account it was sent from. Second, I don't want to co-mingle my work and home emails.

Then you need to create some 'Rules'.

Either create rules that change the color of the message depending on the sending address, or a rule that moves messages to another folder depending on the sending address.

Two others who replied to this message had separate sent folders just like we have separate ones for the Inbox. What is different in the installations? My reading of the docs I've been able to find indicates that the Sent folders should be per-account.

Sounds like everyone that has separate Sent folders is using IMAP, not POP.

Is POP your only choice for your two accounts?

Hate to reply to my own reply, but the problem was pretty silly. I hadn't actually sent a message from the second account yet -- once I did that, Mail created the other sent folder and other junk folder.

Sorry for the noise, I thought they were created when the account was created, not when the first email was sent.
