I am sure this has been covered in the past, but with the Apple Watch Ultra launching, I thought it might be worth revisiting.

While I am super excited to receive my new Apple Watch Ultra, I will miss the SS finish on my 44mm Series 6. I completely understand why SS is not an option for the Apple Watch Ultra.

I will need to see how some of my existing bands - specifically my silver link bracelet, my silver Milanese loop, and my numerous Apple leather bands with stainless steel connectors - look on the Apple Watch Ultra. I am debating if I should keep my SS watch and if I will even use it.

Do any of you own (and actually use) more than one Apple Watch? Or, with the introduction of the Apple Watch Ultra, do you plan to keep an older Apple Watch for any reason?

Keeping my S6. The trade-in amount wasn’t all that much, and it’s quite different than the Ultra, so I’m keeping it. I have several watches, soon to be including a 2nd Apple Watch.

I have a S6 SS and a S7 SS and an Ultra to be delivered tomorrow. I will most likely sell the S6, but not sure if I will keep the S7 or sell it.

ios handles multiple watches seamlessly. It’ll know which watch you have on when it detects it on your wrist.

If you have more than one phone though the watch can’t switch between phones seamlessly lol (less common scenario but I had both a mini and pro max last year)

Im planning to keep my SS series 7 for occasional wear and the ultra for daily but will give it a test run to see if it’s worth it. Im looking forward to the better battery life and change of look after years and years of very generic (and common) Apple Watch design

I hand my watches down at upgrade about every other year. My daughter received my SS S6 yesterday when I setup the Ultra but handed me back my previous SS S4. I was trying to decide what to do with it and if adding it I would ever really use it. I could find times like when working on a project that might put the watch in danger of damage. Looking back, I have worn my watch for everything and since the beginning, the only time I ever had an issue was one of my early aluminum models I scratched the display on a chain link fence trimming grass. So, really, I dont need two but the resale value of a S4 is not much. I might as well keep it and let it expire with me or at some point give to someone that otherwise would not buy a watch.

So, to summarize, I do plan to have two paired but not sure how often I will use the second watch if at all.

With multiple watches registered to same iPhone, if my daily move goal is 1000 calories, is it possible that if I did 400 with one watch and 600 with another watch on the same day, it would be considered as goal achieved for 1000 calories for the day?

Thanks for confirming. So it would mean if I remove first watch at 400 cal and wear second watch, the second watch move goal would immediately show 400 cal already achieved for the day?

I have both an Ultra and a base model Series 8. I like to wear the Ultra during the day and the S8 during the night (because of the smaller size and the round edges it feels a lot more comfortable to sleep with for me).

Switching back and forth works fine, everything syncs quickly. The only thing I miss is being able to see the battery life of both watches on the phone at the same time (only the connected watch is shown).

I would have a similar use case. Just ordered ultra and currently have AW5 with depleted battery. Am thinking of using AW5 for sleep tracking only.
currently AW5 is cellular with data plan enabled on it. How to transfer the plan to ultra. Is it simple process?

Can’t comment on that, my provider unfortunately does not yet support AW’s (my S8 is WiFi only).

Yes, you’re asked that question during setup, I don’t have cellular enabled on mine but there are plenty threads on that topic here
