If the title is a little confusing, don't worry. I'll break things down for ya
I drive for Lyft part time, and I've been streaming all sorts of music for my passengers about 90% of the time I'm working (the other 10% would be them plugging into my car's USB port). Ever since I bought my AirPods (about 2-3 weeks ago), I've been trying to find a way to route music through the USB cable, and other audio sources (primarily turn-by-turn directions) through the AirPods at the same time. Is this possible with iOS right now? If not, are there any apps I could look into? I'm not about to jailbreak my phone just to have this "feature," but I do think that Apple should provide this kind of functionality. I'm an audio guy, and I'm used to studio mixers; so when I can't have multiple inputs being fed the output channel of my choice, I get a little anxiety attack going on lol.
I have noticed that if I what to listen to music/etc., and have a phone call at the same time, I can accomplish this through the built in speakers, or send all audio straight to the AirPods... but that isn't what I'm looking for.
I can accept that it may even be a quirk of the car I'm using (2016 Hyundai Elantra), but this was the same issue I had with the previous vehicle I tried this with (2016 Nissan Sentra). Anyone have some ideas? Or am I just running around in circles? lol
If I could potentially make this work by running the music to the car via Bluetooth (I'd need an adapter, but that's another topic entirely), and redirect specific audio to the AirPods, that would be awesome. But I just can't imagine things would be that simple when my search has yielded practically zero results :/
