Multiple Computer iTunes Authorization Don't Have Same iTunes Purchases

I have a Macbook Pro and a desktop PC with iTunes installed on each with the same account. However, my iTunes purchases are not reflected the same on each computer. For example, my Macbook has two tv seasons of The Wire that does not appear on my PC iTunes. Also, there are a number of apps on my PC that I don't have on my Mac notebook. This is especially annoying as I sync my iPhone 4 most frequently with my desktop.

Any insight or suggestions on this?

Authorizing a computer doesn't automatically download all the purchases for the associated account. The files stay on the computer they're purchased from until you transfer them to another yourself.

If the computers you're referring to are on the same network, I'll second dashcs's suggestion that you look into Home Sharing.
