Multiple crop and save from one image

I want to crop and save multiple images from one image. Can this be done with preview on MacOS Mojave. If not, is there a free app I can use to achieve this? The crops need to be custom shapes, not grids or perfect squares. Thanks.

First thing...image files must be rectangular. You can crop any shape but making it a file will result in a rectangular image file.

Try the Preview app. Show the Markup Toolbar and use the Lasso Selection tool to select and copy (to Clipboard). Then, File>New from Clipboard.
