Hello folks,

I'm trying to make something simple, but it raised a bunch of questions.

I've got four video dvds to be put together into one single disc. The original videos are quite short and I wouldn't like to lose much quality on the process.

To extract the videos from the DVDs I've tried MPEG Streamclip and YadeX to demux the VOBs, achieving similar results on the image (but the aiff audio bitrate from MPEG Streamclip is really heavier).

As result, I got four .m2v and four .ac3 files wich I'm importing to DVD Studio Pro when something odd happens. The sum of the original VOB file sizes was 4.85GB. When demuxed to .m2v and .ac3 it's 4.76GB (it is not recompressed, right? this difference has something to do with the movie container?).
The DVD I'm doing has no menus, it's one single track for each movie. And the disc meter says it's 5.3GB and won't burn into a single layer red laser DVD. Why is it 5.3GB if the files I'm using are 4.76? Is it because of the disc structure or something?

Now, to solve the puzzle. The videos must fit into the 4.7GB DVD. Should I compress the files using Compressor? Straight from the VOB files? Which settings should be used? Is there any way DVD Studio Pro can make it fit into the DVD? Should I do it? Is it a good quality compression? Should I generate the VIDEO_TS and burn it using another application? Is there any other way I can do it? Anybody? Help?
