Hi All,

i have a desk set up at home :

Dell 3818 screen
Laptop - MBA M1 and MBP 16 i7 (happens on both devices)
Multiple HDD and SSD
Focusrite audio interface

i have now bought 4 hubs, from hyperdrive to now the Adams elements 10ce.

none can handle more than one HDD or SSD

i have my monitor plugged in via thunderbolt on Adam as hub, one for Ethernet, and one HDD, then minute i plug in a second 1tb HDD or SSD DRIVE, they start connecting and reconnecting , on ALL the hubs.

I am looking for a reliable system whereBay i can plug and play between laptops , or at the very least make everything work reliably.

Are you using a powered hub, one with its own power supply, or a non-powered hub? If it is the latter it may not be getting enough power for everything connected.

I think you are right, its drawing too much power and crashing, can hear the drives making clunking noises.

ordered a Caldigit ts3 plus, which has power, so hopefully will sort that issue out.

Will update when i get delivery today or tomorrow

i replaced my iMac 27” last year (which had all the ports on the back and working well) and went ultra wide with a Dell 3818 With a 16” MacBook Pro.

hubs has been the nightmare, i have tried about 4 different ones from hyperdrive the Adam elements c10e , whether drawing from one port or two ports, the hubs would crash my HDD and audio interface.

All i connected was 2 x 2TB western digital external HDD and Focusrite 2i2 interface.

so the HDD would disconnect and you could hear them struggling with no juice. This happened on all hubs regardless.

I tried going direct into monitor, which worked but whenever i wrapped up for the day and the laptop went to sleep , i woke to HDD errors every AM. Which usually wouldn’t be an issue, except they hooked to my plex server.

finally got the Caldigit TS3 + yesterday and everything works like a charm with my MacBook Pro and MBA M1, plugged in 4 HDD , my audio interface, my SSD portable, and i run my monitor via TB3 , then into a one port solution into air.

So far so good, but this is day 2, so will see today, if i pick up any other bugs With the Caldigit, but so far (prays hard) this is my final solution after a year of frustration.
