Multiple iPad on one Apple ID Security Issue

Hi guys, our company recently purchased a whole bunch of business iPads and we are going to be rolling it out to users. One problem we have with having multiple iPads on one Apple ID is that, IF we ever have the case where one of the iPads is lost, we would have to remote wipe it.

All is well until we login to iCloud and all the iPads just show up as iPad, without having a unique identifier like the serial number etc .... its a pain, but is there a way around it with using the one Apple ID?

Id like to avoid using the multiple Apple ID route if possible.

Set each iPad up through iTunes with unique identifier. E.g. 001 etc etc, then keep a record of each iPad's unique ID and assign it to a user. If it gets lost just wipe the iPad with the unique ID assigned to that user.

It's easy to set up a new name for each iPad when you set it up with iTunes

Is there a way of putting it through a unique identifier without itunes? The users whos going to be getting these iPads wont have laptops with iTunes on them. The only ones that will will have itunes is user IT staff, but we want to avoid the problem of having each iPad tied down to a machine. We going to be ordering quite a few of these iPads.

Have the users go to Settings>General>About>Name

You can then give them a unique ID and keep a record of it to cross referrence against if the need arises. Or ask them to name it with their name e.g. John Smith

Just assign them the fixed asset number your company uses to track assets.

Use provisioning software. There is a free package available in the Mac app store, as well as commercial services available.
