A friend of mine asked me to help him fix some of his ipods, a 4th Generation 40 Gig, a 4th Generation 20 Gig and an iPod nano, 1G 2 Gig.
Question 1: His 20 gig had the classic, Folder with exclamation mark. I tried many solutions with this, all had failed. No matter how hard I tried, the iPod ended up restarting and would not allow me to do anything. So, with the 40 gig iPod, i switched hard drives, and it got just a bit farther. The problem? It just had a battery icon that said it was low. I charged it, but it still showed low. Does this mean that the problem lies within the battery and not the 20 Gig Hard Drive? When it was switched, the 40 Gig shell iPod would start up.
Question 2: This is the tricky one. Same friend. He gave me his iPod nano, 1G 2Gig. The back of this one is already taken apart. Now, what step should i take next? It appears as if the battery connections are no longer soldered to the Motherboard( See Picture). Could I be able to solder it myself, or should I just say the nano is done for?
Sorry for the bad picture, I'll try to get another one up tomorrow with more lighting.
