So I've pretty much run out of space on my computer (1.5GHz Powerbook G4, 80GB) and I'm considering moving my music library to my external hard drive.

First off, is it possible to only move part of it to an external, so I can still have some music on here?

Further, do you recommend doing this? I mostly listen to music when I'm at my desk so I could easily be hooked up to my external, but it would be nice if I didn't have to be. I sync a 4G iPod, a 2G shuffle and an iPhone with this, so what kind of problems will I run into if I move it all to my external? If I try and sync my phone while not connected to the HD will it get confused and erase stuff off my Phone or something else?

Any advice would be splendid. Thanks.
