Back in October I upgraded my year and a half old 13" MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard in anticipation of the Mac App Store and have suffered no less than five kernel panics since installing SL.

Now, I've owned several Macs over the years and only experienced two kernel panics, both due to hardware faults. After each of the KPs I've had on the MacBook Pro I ran the Apple Hardware Test immediately afterwards which reported no errors.

I know it sounds far-fetched but could these panics stem from Snow Leopard itself? Has anyone else with a 5,5 MacBook Pro experienced multiple panics under Snow Leopard?

Thanks in advance.

I was getting Kernel panics when my MBP would wake-up ... made an appointment with the Apple store, They swapped the Ram and the Logic board.

Dropped it off on Tuesday night at 6:30 ... they called 10:30 the next morning, said come pick it up ... fixed.

the process that failed was this one
http://developer.apple.com/library/...rwin/Reference/ManPages/man1/nmblookup.1.html
are you by chance sharing your internet connection or have manually configured port forwarding?
if so try turning those off, resetting the portforward etc.
and tbh i dont think AHT checks your wifi/ethernet cards.

Nope, not sharing my connection or port forwarding. My initial thought was that it was a RAM issue as each time I had a panic, I was running various combinations of CS5 and FCS plus iTunes, etc. Hence why I tried the Hardware Test.

I'll make sure to compare this log to the one from my next panic and see if nmblookup is to blame.

Also, I'd love to be able to drop into an Apple Store but not only am I out of AppleCare, my nearest store is a half hour train journey away and I just don't have the time at the moment.

Cheers for your help guys.

Good Luck ... I hope it is only as serious as the Ram
