Multiple lines in Terminal.app

Here, there, and everywhere
Hi,

Since switching to Linux from Wins couple years ago I got used to using terminal to perform common tasks like syncing, connecting to remote servers, even ftp. I noticed that Terminal in OSX Lion does not handle multi-line commands well; it does not continue on the next line, but it rather overwrites the first line. Recalling last command makes thinks even worse.

Did anybody figure out how to configure terminal properly?

Or, do you guys use different terminal application all together?
