Multiple selections in Excel/Fusion: how to

Dear all,
In Excel running on PC-Windows I can make multiple selections (e.g. cells, in spaced away columns) by using CTRL-Click .
In Excel running in VMware-Fusion/XP it did not work.
Any hints on it, please?:confused:
